Rep. Grant of Groton explained her vote as follows:

"Mr. Speaker:

This bill does nothing to protect the employees in the State of Vermont and leaves the door open for further abuses of Vermont employees."

Rep. Young of Orwell explained his vote as follows:

"Mr. Speaker:

I vote no - I don't need the State once again to tell me how to run my business. My employees are valued are given breaks and quite often are paid and allowed to go home early or have a day off. I don't feel I should be subject to the threat of litigation because of some other employers behavior."
