Subject:           Oregon Death With Dignity Act Survey

Dear interested party:

The Legislative Council’s office has been asked by several members of the general assembly to look into the factual disputes regarding Oregon’s death with dignity law and the Netherlands’ euthanasia law.  We are interested in getting your opinion on the areas of factual dispute, the basis for your opinion that there is a factual dispute, and any reference materials or contacts in Oregon or the Netherlands we could use to verify the information.  We will not be taking a position on the law nor will we be looking to any moral issues relating to the law, so please do not provide us with this type of information.  Our inquiry is narrowly focused on the factual issues.  In addition, this is not part of a summer study committee and is unfunded so the scope of our efforts is limited.

If you are a member of an organization or group, it would be helpful to us if you would submit ONE response.  Please feel free to forward this email to other interested parties.

Please respond no later than July 12, 2004.  Thank you for your participation.
