|RESOLUTION AS INTRODUCED||2007-2008|

S.C.R. 27. Senate concurrent resolution congratulating the 2007 South Burlington High School Rebels girls' lacrosse Division I championship team.
Whereas, after leaving the 2006 girls’ lacrosse Division I state championship game bereft of the division title, the South Burlington High School Rebels were afforded a championship rematch in 2007 when they once again faced the Middlebury Union High School Tigers in the season’s finale, and
Whereas, throughout the 2007 contest played at the University of Vermont’s Widner Field, the many enthusiastic South Burlington fans in attendance provided the Rebels an extra degree of momentum, and
Whereas, South Burlington grabbed an early lead, having outdistanced the Tigers 3–0 after only 10 minutes of play, and
Whereas, Middlebury was not prepared to concede defeat easily, and by the halftime break, the Tigers had narrowed the Rebels lead to a narrow 7–6 margin, and
Whereas, early in the second half, South Burlington scored three quick goals in succession and continued to increase its lead until victory was assured with a 14–9 win when the game concluded, and
Whereas, the offensive muscle that brought the championship crown to South Burlington featured the scoring of seniors Lexi Crook (six goals), Taylor Rand (three goals), Caroline Andrew (two goals) and their classmates, Ashley Moirano, Jenny Wheel and Donna Jezwinski, who each contributed a goal, and
Whereas, the entire 2007 South Burlington Rebels girls’ lacrosse squad, consisting of Donna Jezwinski, Zoe Iasilli, Katie LeClair, Julie Barrett, Annie Rendall, Sydney Stevens, Alex Dionne, Caroline Andrew, Becca Lee, Lexi Crook, Kylie McLane, Jenny Wheel, Michelle Handy, Ashley Moirano, Malinda Wisell, Gillian Mann, Alyssa Crews, Gigi Veve, Natalie vonTurkovich, Andrea Luxenberg, Jenn Duff, Taylor Rand, Kaleigh Giard-Chase and Becca Shaw, and the leadership of its great coach, Anjie Soucy, resulted in the team’s fantastic 17–1 state championship 2007 season, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the 2007 South Burlington High School Rebels girls’ lacrosse Division I championship team, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Anjie Soucy at South Burlington High School.
