Joint Senate Resolution

   By Senator McCormack,

     J.R.S. 32.  Joint resolution requesting Congress to commence impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States.

     Whereas, President George W. Bush has repeatedly violated constitutional limits on his powers, and

     Whereas, these violations include

·   Prolonged incarcerations without due process,

·   The presentation of falsehoods to Congress,

·   “off-budget” financing of an expensive war resulting in ruinous deficits,

·   Depletion of the public fisc to the emolument of private concerns,

·   And warrantless searches, and

     Whereas, these violations may be properly understood as high crimes and misdemeanors, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

     That the General Assembly of the State of Vermont urges the United States House of Representatives to initiate the constitutionally prescribed process to impeach the President of the United States, and be it further

     Resolved:  That the General Assembly of the State of Vermont urges Vermont’s Congressional delegation to promote the impeachment of the President, and be it further

Resolved:  That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the members of the Vermont Congressional delegation.
