Joint Concurrent House Resolution

House concurrent resolution honoring Dale Guertin for his continuing educational and civic leadership in the town of Richford

Whereas, in the town of Richford, Dale Guertin has been a leading educator for over three decades and a public servant of the highest order for a quarter of a century, and

Whereas, his career in the Richford public schools began in 1976 when he started teaching at the Richford Elementary School, and

Whereas, Dale Guertin’s talent as a classroom teacher did not go unnoticed, and in due course he was appointed to the vice principal’s position at the elementary school, and he performed this role with great skill and dedication for many years, and

Whereas, in 2006, he was promoted to his new position as principal at Richford Junior-Senior High School, and

Whereas, in the civic arena, Dale Guertin was first elected to the Richford selectboard in 1983 and remained an active and well informed municipal legislator until his service on the town’s premier municipal panel concluded in 2007, and

Whereas, the wide respect Dale Guertin engendered among his municipal legislative colleagues made him an ideal candidate to preside as Richford’s selectboard chair, and he fulfilled the duties of this office for an extended period of time effectively, knowledgeably, and with the utmost integrity, and

Whereas, Dale Guertin has served on the board of the Richford Health Center, an innovative community facility, and

Whereas, he has assisted the town of Richford in many other capacities and always exhibits a great willingness to improve the community, and

Whereas, Dale Guertin is especially committed to furthering the outstanding programs of the Richford Lions Club, to which he has belonged for over 20 years, and

Whereas, when neither working as the local high school’s principal or serving in one of his many civic or fraternal capacities, Dale Guertin may well be found outdoors, especially during hunting season, and

Whereas, the town of Richford is extremely fortunate that Dale Guertin is a resident of the community, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the general assembly is pleased to honor Dale Guertin for his continuing and valuable educational and civic leadership in the town of Richford, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Dale Guertin, to the Richford town clerk, and to the Richford school district.
