Whereas, 19-year-old Lindsay Johnson of Concord graduated from Concord High School, and she is now a freshman at Lyndon State College, and

Whereas, she is an up-and-coming young country music vocalist, both locally and on the national scene, and

Whereas, in the fall of 2007, she entered the 2007 New Hampshire Country Music Association’s 20th Annual Talent Search in the 17-to-20-year-old female vocalist category, and

Whereas, Lindsay Johnson’s singing wowed the judges who named her the competition’s 2007 Female Vocalist of the Year for her age group, and

Whereas, the New Hampshire win entitled Lindsay Johnson to compete at the National North America Country Music Associations International competition in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and

Whereas, at the Tennessee event, Lindsay Johnson was competing against outstanding female country music vocalists from around the nation, and

Whereas, this truly gifted young musician exhibited great command of the country music genre, and the judges recognized she was the obvious first place winner in the 17-to-20-year-old Female Vocalist Future Star category, and

Whereas, her award winning performance earned Lindsay Johnson the opportunity to return to Tennessee to record a singing performance on a CD that the North American Country Music Association International is producing, featuring all the competition’s winners, and

Whereas, Lindsay Johnson’s academic course work at Lyndon State College includes a new course that links music to business which she hopes will prove useful in the years ahead, and

Whereas, she has also performed in the Colgate Showdown in Lyndonville and the Country Showdown in White River Junction, both prominent local musical competitions, and

Whereas, on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, Lindsay Johnson made her performing debut in the state house, singing, with great enthusiasm, our national anthem in the well of the house, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Lindsay Johnson on her victories in state and national country music vocal competitions, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Lindsay Johnson.
