Whereas, Adam Muller grew up in Richmond, and this engaging young man was popular among his schoolmates and,

 

 

Whereas, during his senior year, Adam Muller exhibited his instinctive impulse to try the unexpected when he joined the Mount Mansfield Union High School chorale solely to sing the popular rock tune Bohemian Rhapsody, and

Whereas, as a first grader, Adam Muller met his future wife, Michelle, his soccer teammate and fellow school bus rider, and

Whereas, while it may not have been love at first sight, Adam Muller and Michelle eventually dated for the first time at a Mount Mansfield Union High School cabaret, and

Whereas, from that moment forward, their bonds grew stronger, and they married in November 2006, and

Whereas, after high school graduation, Adam Muller attended Vermont Technical College and studied to become a mechanic, but his special career goal was to work in law enforcement, and

Whereas, seeking to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Army, hoping to be eventually assigned to military police duty, and

Whereas, in September 2007, Private First Class Adam Muller was deployed to Iraq as a gunner in the 10th Mountain Division, and

Whereas, on November 5, 2007, while riding in a Humvee near the city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, three fellow soldiers and he perished when an improvised explosive device destroyed their vehicle, and

Whereas, Private First Class Adam Muller hoped that the Iraqi children he encountered would remember him and his colleagues kindly, and

Whereas, aside from his wife, Michelle, his survivors include his mother, Katherine Muller, his father James Muller, and his stepmother, Michael Muller, who will cherish their special memories of him, and

Whereas, Adam Muller’s death marks a sad occasion for both the town of Richmond and the state of Vermont, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly expresses its profound sympathy to the family of Private First Class Adam Muller, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to his wife and his parents.
