House concurrent resolution congratulating NSK STEERING SYSTEMS AMERICA, Inc. of Bennington on its 20th anniversary

Whereas, NASTECH, an innovative developer of automotive steering systems, was established in 1988 in Bennington as an NSK/Torrington joint venture, and

Whereas, in 1989, the company manufactured its first automotive steering system, and NSK/Torrington was quickly recognized for the excellence of its work, and

Whereas, starting in 1990, it received the first of many awards from the automobile companies for which it supplies parts, and

Whereas, by 1992, NASTECH had produced one million steering columns, and

Whereas, based on its early success and proven ability, NASTECH’s manufacturing capacity was expanded on several occasions in the 1990s, and

Whereas, in 1996, international sales were begun, and just two years later, in 1998, steering column number ten million had rolled off the firm’s assembly line, and

Whereas, NSK acquired 100-percent control of the operation in 2000, and in 2003, the name of the company was changed to NSK STEERING SYSTEMS AMERICA, Inc., and

Whereas, most recently, in 2007, NSK STEERING SYSTEMS AMERICA, Inc. was the recipient of the Honda Quality and Delivery Award, and

Whereas, this still-young company has made immense progress as a manufacturer in a relatively short period of time, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the general assembly congratulates NSK STEERING SYSTEMS AMERICA, Inc. on its 20th anniversary, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to NSK STEERING SYSTEMS AMERICA, Inc. in Bennington.
