House concurrent resolution honoring the Girl Scout Council of Vermont during Girl Scout Week

Offered by:  Representative Morrissey of Bennington

Whereas, since Juliette Gordon Low established Girl Scouts U.S.A. 96 years ago in Savannah, Georgia on March 12, 1912, the organization has become a leading source for creative, instructive, and meaningful programs for young girls in the United States, and

Whereas, Girl Scouts serve their communities helping others, learning about their own career potential, and having a great time in the process, and

Whereas, to commemorate this historic day, Vermont Girl Scouts are staging a flag ceremony at the opening of the Wednesday, March 12, 2008 session of the Vermont house of representatives, and

Whereas, the week of March 9-15 has been declared Girl Scout Week in Vermont, and today is a most opportune date to honor the outstanding girls and adult leaders who make Girl Scouting so successful in this state, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly honors the Girl Scout Council of Vermont during Girl Scout Week, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Girl Scout Council of Vermont.
