House concurrent resolution honoring Thomas Anthony Levesque for 28 years of public service as the Chittenden East Supervisory Union district treasurer

Offered by: Representatives Barnard of Richmond, Frank of Underhill, Symington of Jericho, Dostis of Waterbury and Minter of Waterbury

Offered by:  Senators Racine, Condos, Flanagan, Lyons, Miller and Snelling

Whereas, Thomas Levesque grew up in the town of Richmond, and he graduated from Richmond High School in 1967, and

Whereas, he continued his education at Champlain College and earned an associate degree in accounting that would prove essential in his future career, and

Whereas, among Thomas Levesque’s employers have been his family’s business, the M&M store in Richmond, and the U.S. Postal Service, and

Whereas, his initial employment with the Chittenden East Supervisory Union district was as a school bus driver, starting in 1971, and

Whereas, Thomas Levesque’s driving expertise resulted in his teaching a driver education course at Mount Mansfield Union High School, and

Whereas, in 1980, Thomas Levesque was appointed as the Chittenden East Supervisory Union district treasurer, and

Whereas, Thomas Levesque has continued to manage the increasingly complex financial records for the school district accurately, faithfully, and in a timely manner for the last 28 years, and

Whereas, he is retiring from his treasurer’s position with the supervisory union, and his colleagues are saluting him at a farewell celebration on February 7, 2008, and

Whereas, the citizens of Richmond are delighted that this 40-year firefighting veteran will continue as chief of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department, and

Whereas, his many years of service at the Chittenden East Supervisory Union district merit special recognition, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly honors Thomas Levesque for 28 years of public service as the Chittenden East Supervisory Union district treasurer, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Thomas Levesque.
