House concurrent resolution congratulating Vermont Business Magazine 5x5x5 Award winners Chamberlain Machine, Inc. and Chroma Technology Corporation of Bellows Falls

Offered by:  Representatives Obuchowski of Rockingham and Partridge of Windham

Whereas, Vermont Business Magazine (VBM) annually surveys businesses in the state to determine which have been the sales growth leaders in their respective sectors during the preceding five years, and

Whereas, the special designation awarded to the leading sales achievers in each sector is known as the 5x5x5 Award and serves as a prestigious recognition for any Vermont business, and

Whereas, two Bellows Falls-based companies have recently earned 5x5x5 recognition, and

Whereas, in the manufacturing sector, Chamberlain Machine, Inc., a family‑owed company of roughly 50 employees that has produced precision machine products since 1943, posted a five-year sales growth of 167.9 percent, with 2006 sales in the $5–$10 million range, and

Whereas, Chamberlain Machine, Inc. manufactures, assembles, and tests products for the fluid power, pump, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and rail industries, and

Whereas, this successful southern Vermont company strives to build lasting partnerships with its customers, and

Whereas, in the 5x5x5 technology sector, Chroma Technology Corporation, an employee-owned company that employs approximately 80 persons and designs and manufactures precision optical filters earned this honor for the fourth time in the past five years, and

Whereas, Chroma Technology Corporation had sales in 2006 of between $10 and $50 million and marked a five-year sales growth expansion of 17.3 percent, and

Whereas, both Chamberlain Manufacturing, Inc. and Chroma Technology Corporation have contributed significantly to the economy of Bellows Falls and the surrounding communities, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Vermont Business Magazine 5x5x5 Award winners Chamberlain Machine, Inc. and Chroma Technology Corporation of Bellows Falls, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Robert Boyton, president of Chamberlain Machine, Inc. and to Paul Millman, chief executive officer of Chroma Technology Corporation in Bellows Falls.
