Devotional exercises were conducted by Rabbi James Glazier of Burlington.

Message from the House No. 12

     A message was received from the House of Representatives by Ms. Wrask, its Second Assistant Clerk, as follows:

Mr. President:

I am directed to inform the Senate the House has passed a bill of the following title:

H. 557.  An act relating to postponing the sunset of the Fish and Wildlife Board’s authority to adopt rules regulating the deer herd.

In the passage of which the concurrence of the Senate is requested.

Message from the House No. 13

     A message was received from the House of Representatives by Ms. Wrask, its Second Assistant Clerk, as follows:

Mr. President:

I am directed to inform the Senate the House has considered a joint resolution originating in the Senate of the following title:

J.R.S. 48.  Joint resolution relating to weekend adjournment.

And has adopted the same in concurrence.

     The House has adopted concurrent resolutions of the following titles:

     H.C.R. 199.  Concurrent resolution in memory of former South Burlington Representative Theodore Riehle, Jr.

     H.C.R. 200.  Concurrent resolution in memory of Rutland City Deputy Fire Chief Michael Walsh.

     H.C.R. 201.  Concurrent resolution in memory of former Washington County side judge Paul H. Guare of Montpelier.

     H.C.R. 202.  Concurrent resolution congratulating the Vergennes High School Commodores 2007 Division II championship baseball team.

     H.C.R. 203.  Concurrent resolution congratulating the 2007 Poultney High School Blue Devils Division III championship football team.

     H.C.R. 204.  Concurrent resolution wishing the New England Patriots good luck in Super Bowl XLII.

     H.C.R. 205.  Concurrent resolution honoring Tom Frazier for his quarter‑century‑plus of outstanding local and regional public service on behalf of the town of Roxbury.

In the adoption of which the concurrence of the Senate is requested.

     The House has considered concurrent resolutions originating in the Senate of the following titles:

     S.C.R. 27.  Concurrent resolution congratulating the 2007 South Burlington High School Rebels girls' lacrosse Division I championship team.

     S.C.R. 28.  Concurrent resolution congratulating the 2007 South Burlington High School Rebels Division I championship boys' tennis team.

     S.C.R. 29.  Concurrent resolution congratulating the 2007 South Burlington High School Rebels Division I championship baseball team.

And has adopted the same in concurrence.

Appointments Referred

Rules Suspended; Committee Relieved of Further Consideration; Bill Committed

S. 216.

On motion of Senator Collins, the rules were suspended, and S. 216 was taken up for immediate consideration, for the purpose of relieving the Committee on Economic Development, Housing and General Affairs from further consideration of the bill. Thereupon, on motion of Senator Collins, the Committee on Economic Development, Housing and General Affairs was relieved of Senate bill entitled:

An act relating to designating snowboarding as the Vermont state sport,

and the bill was committed to the Committee on Education.

Bills Passed

Senate bills of the following titles were severally read the third time and passed:

An act relating to the safe haven exemption to the crime of abandonment.

S. 240.

An act relating to repealing the sunset of the law enforcement exemption to the social security breach notice act.

S. 283.

An act relating to the managed care organizations and the blueprint for health.

H. 590.

Senator Ayer, for the Committee on Government Operations, to which was referred Senate bill entitled:

An act relating to the spelling of the name of the town and village of Alburg.

Reported that the bill ought to pass in concurrence.

Thereupon, the bill was read the second time by title only pursuant to Rule 43, and third reading of the bill was ordered.
