The Senate was called to order by the President.
Devotional exercises were conducted by the Reverend Wendy Manley of Montpelier.
Message from the House No. 1
A message was received from the House of Representatives by Ms. Wrask, its Second Assistant Clerk, as follows:
I am directed to inform the Senate the House has considered a joint resolution originating in the Senate of the following title:
J.R.S. 40. Joint resolution to provide for a Joint Assembly to receive the State-of-the-State message from the Governor.
And has adopted the same in concurrence.
Senate bills of the following titles were severally introduced, read the first time and referred:

An act relating to the energy independence and Rural Economic Development Act.
To the Committee on Natural Resources and Energy.

An act relating to mammography patient cost containment.
To the Committee on Finance.
On motion of Senator Shumlin, the Senate adjourned until one o’clock and forty-five minutes in the afternoon on Thursday, January 10, 2008.
