Devotional exercises were conducted by Reverend Wendy Manly of Christ Church, Montpelier.

Message from the Senate No. 40

     A message was received from the Senate by Mr. Marshall, its Assistant Secretary, as follows:

Madam Speaker:

I am directed to inform the House that the Senate has on its part passed Senate bills of the following titles:

S. 67.  An act relating to closure of the Bennington state office building.

S. 92.  An act relating to groundwater mapping.

S. 170.  An act relating to rights of family members, funeral directors, and crematory operators concerning the disposition of bodily remains and funeral services.

In the passage of which the concurrence of the House is requested.

Message from the Senate No. 41

     A message was received from the Senate by Mr. Marshall, its Assistant Secretary, as follows:

Madam Speaker:

I am directed to inform the House that the Senate has on its part passed Senate bill of the following title:

S. 164.  An act relating to campaign finance.

In the passage of which the concurrence of the House is requested.

The Senate has on its part adopted a joint resolution of the following title:

J.R.S. 27.  Joint resolution relating to weekend adjournment.

In the adoption of which the concurrence of the House is requested.

The Senate has considered a joint resolution originating in the House of the following title:

J.R.H. 19.  Joint resolution relating to Boys’ State use of the State House.

And has adopted the same in concurrence.

Committee Bill Introduced

Rep. Ancel of Calais, for the committee on Education, introduced a bill, entitled

An act relating to prekindergarten education;

Which was read the first time and, under the rule, placed on the Calendar for notice tomorrow.

Senate bills of the following titles were severally taken up, read the first time and referred as follows:

Senate bill, entitled

Senate bill, entitled

Bill Referred to Committee on Appropriations

Senate bill, entitled

An act relating to planning and evaluating options for inpatient psychiatric hospital services;

Appearing on the Calendar, carrying an appropriation, under rule 35a, was referred to the committee on Appropriations.

Recess

At one o’clock and thirty minutes in the afternoon, the Speaker declared a recess until the fall of the gavel.

At two o’clock and twenty minutes in the afternoon, the Speaker called the House to order.

Action on Bill Postponed

H. 526

House bill, entitled

An act relating to education quality and cost control;

Was taken up and pending the reading of the report of the committee on Ways and Means, on motion of Rep. Partridge of Windham, action on the bill was postponed until Tuesday, April 3, 2007.

Adjournment

At two o’clock and thirty minutes in the afternoon, on motion of Rep. Adams of Hartland, the House adjourned until tomorrow at nine o’clock and thirty minutes in the forenoon.
