The following rules shall apply to the conduct of these elections:
First: All nominations for these offices will be presented in alphabetical order prior to voting.
Second: There will be only one nominating speech of not more than three (3) minutes and not more than two seconding speeches of not more than one (1) minute each for each nominee.
The following items were received by the Joint Fiscal Committee:
JFO #2285 – $1,000,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Department of Housing and Community Affairs and the Department of Economic Development. This grant will be used to capitalize Vermont’s Brownfields Revitalization fund with $750,000 utilized for loans to developers and eligible owners for hazardous materials remediation and $250,000 utilized for loans for petroleum contamination remediation. JFO #2286 – $1,000,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to the Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities & Health Care Administration. During fiscal year 2008 the Department will use this grant to fund $1,000,000 of the $2,500,000 budgeted for the creation and initial operation of a qualified high risk pool. [JFO received 02/06/06]
JFO #2287 – $250,000 grant from the Social Security Administration and Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. to the Department of Disabilities, Aging & Independent Living. This grant will fund a “Youth Transition Demonstration” pilot program. In combination with the existing statewide service system for youth in transition, this project will test a group of SSI waivers for youth designed to promote employment and economic self-sufficiency.
