Subject:  Motor vehicles; insurance; state employees; uninsured motorist coverage

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to provide that the uninsured motorist policy coverage for state employees shall be not less than $5,000,000.00 for one person and $10,000,000.00 for two or more persons killed or injured.

AN ACT RELATING TO UNINSURED MOTORIST POLICY COVERAGE FOR STATE EMPLOYEES

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  23 V.S.A. § 941(c) is amended to read:

(c)  The coverages under subsections (a) and (b) of this section for new or renewed policies shall be not less than $50,000.00 for one person and $100,000.00 for two or more persons killed or injured.  If the limits of liability coverage in the policy are greater than $50,000.00 for one person and $100,000.00 for two or more persons injured or killed, the limits of uninsured motorist insurance shall be the same, unless the policyholder otherwise directs.

Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, the uninsured motorist policy coverage for state employees shall be not less than $5,000,000.00 for one person and $10,000,000.00 for two or more persons killed or injured.
