Subject:  Catamount Health; eligibility requirements

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to extend eligibility for Catamount Health to persons who have private insurance with premiums equal to more than 10 percent of their monthly income.

AN ACT RELATING TO EXPANDING ELIGIBILITY FOR CATAMOUNT HEALTH

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1  8 V.S.A. § 4080f(a)(9) is amended to read: 

(9)  “Uninsured” means an individual who does not qualify for Medicare, Medicaid, the Vermont health access plan, or Dr. Dynasaur, and had no private insurance that included both hospital and physician services within 12 months prior to the month of application, has private insurance with a premium equal to more than 10 percent of the individual’s monthly income, or had employer‑sponsored coverage that includes did not include both hospital and physician services within 12 months prior to the month of application, or lost private insurance or employer‑sponsored coverage during the prior 12 months for the following reasons:
