Subject:  Housing; state subsidized rental housing; rental housing health code compliance; enforcement  

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to assure that housing in which recipients of public assistance are living or which is paid for with some type of state subsidy is habitable and in compliance with the rental housing health code by requiring the departments of housing and community affairs, for children and families, and of public safety to compile a list of housing paid by any type of state subsidy, including public assistance.  Thereafter, the department of public safety shall perform inspections of this housing, issue orders for violations of the housing code, and enforce compliance with those orders. 

AN ACT RELATING TO ASSURING THAT HOUSING OCCUPIED BY RECIPIENTS OF PUBLIC ASSISTANCE OR PAID FOR BY STATE SUBSIDY IS HABITABLE AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RENTAL HEALTH HOUSING CODE

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
