Subject:  Highways; Interstate 89; spike pilot project

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to direct the agency of transportation to install, on a one-year pilot basis, a set of spikes on the entry way to the northbound exit 16 exit ramp off I-89 to deter motorists from entering the highway traveling southbound on the northbound lanes.

AN ACT RELATING TO A PILOT SPIKE PROJECT ON INTERSTATE 89

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:

Sec. 1.  PILOT SPIKE PROJECT

The agency of transportation is directed to establish, on a one-year pilot basis, a system of spikes at the entry way to the exit 16 northbound exit ramp of Interstate 89 as a deterrence to motor vehicle operators from entering the highway traveling southbound on the northbound lanes.
