Subject: Conservation; water resources; dams
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to appropriate $70,000.00 to the agency of natural resources for the removal of the East Highgate dam on the Missisquoi River or installation of control or exclusion devices at the dam.
AN ACT RELATING TO THE EAST HIGHGATE DAM ON THE MISSISQUOI RIVER
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. SAFETY MEASURES FOR EAST HIGHGATE DAM SAFETY
In addition to any other funds appropriated to the agency of natural resources in fiscal year 2009, there is appropriated from the general fund to the department $70,000.00 in fiscal year 2009 for use by the agency of natural resources in the removal of the East Highgate dam on the Missisquoi River or installation of control or exclusion measures at the dam that are sufficient to eliminate the threat the dam poses to human health and safety.
