Subject: Education; maintenance of schools; tuition; student assessment
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require schools receiving tuition for students from other school districts to report at least twice each year to the sending district regarding the academic progress of the sending district's students.
AN ACT RELATING TO REQUIRING SCHOOLS RECEIVING TUITION TO PROVIDE STUDENT ASSESSMENT REPORTS TO SENDING DISTRICTS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 16 V.S.A. § 837 is added to read:
§ 837. STUDENT ASSESSMENT REPORTS
At least twice yearly, a public or independent school receiving tuition for students from another school district shall provide the sending district a progress report, including course grades and standardized test results, for each student from the sending district.
Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
This act shall apply to the 2008–2009 academic year and after.
