Subject:  Transportation; appropriations; transportation fund; general fund costs

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to reduce and eventually eliminate the appropriation of funds from the transportation fund to cover nonagency of transportation costs.

AN ACT RELATING TO THE REDUCTION AND ELIMINATION OF TRANSPORTATION FUND APPROPRIATIONS FOR NONAGENCY OF TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:


Sec. 1.  19 V.S.A. § 11a is amended to read:

§ 11a.  TRANSPORTATION FUNDS APPROPRIATED FOR SUPPORT OF

            GOVERNMENT

The maximum amount of transportation funds that may be appropriated for the support of government, other than for the agency of transportation, the transportation board, transportation pay act funds, construction of transportation capital facilities used by the agency of transportation, and transportation debt service during fiscal year 2009 shall not exceed be $35,007,219.00.  Thereafter, this amount shall be reduced by $3,500,721.00 per year until it is zero.
