Subject: Capital appropriations; agency of natural resources; aquatic weed harvester; Lake Champlain
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to appropriate $20,000.00 in capital funds to the agency of natural resources for the purpose of purchasing an aquatic weed harvester for use by the St. Albans Bay watershed association and municipalities at the northern end of Lake Champlain, and to appropriate up to $20,000.00 per year in future years until the harvester is paid for.
AN ACT RELATING TO PURCHASE OF AN AQUATIC WEED HARVESTER FOR LAKE CHAMPLAIN
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. AQUATIC WEED HARVESTER; ST. ALBANS BAY WATERSHED ASSOCIATION; CAPITAL APPROPRIATION
The amount of $20,000.00 is appropriated from state general obligation funds to the agency of natural resources to purchase mechanical harvesting equipment that shall be leased to the St. Albans Bay watershed association and municipalities to control the growth of invasive aquatic plants at the northern end of Lake Champlain. The agency shall borrow funds as necessary to purchase the equipment in 2008. It is the intent of the general assembly to appropriate up to $20,000.00 per year in future years until the agency is reimbursed for the amount borrowed.
