Subject: Motor vehicles; antique vehicle; vintage plate
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to authorize the owner of an antique motor vehicle to acquire and display on the vehicle a vintage plate which has been approved by the commissioner of motor vehicles.
AN ACT RELATING TO DISPLAYING MOTOR VEHICLE VINTAGE PLATES
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 23 V.S.A. § 373a is added to read:
§ 373a. ANTIQUE VEHICLES; VINTAGE PLATES
The commissioner of motor vehicles may permit the owner of an antique motor vehicle which is at least 25 years old and used exclusively in exhibitions to use a registration plate which was issued in the same year that the antique motor vehicle was manufactured, provided the vehicle is registered as an exhibition vehicle, and the number of the antique plate is registered with the department of motor vehicles.
Sec. 2. RULES
The commissioner of motor vehicles shall adopt rules pursuant to 3 V.S.A. chapter 25 for the purpose of implementing the provisions of Sec. 1 of this act.
