Subject: Motor vehicles; junior operator; registration plates; sticker; fee
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require the department of motor vehicles to issue a removable sticker to be affixed to the registration plates of a vehicle operated by a junior operator.
AN ACT RELATING TO STICKERS AFFIXED TO THE REGISTRATION PLATES OF JUNIOR OPERATORS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 23 V.S.A. § 607(d) is added to read:
(d) The department of motor vehicles shall issue removable stickers which shall be affixed to the registration plates of all vehicles when operated by a junior operator. The sticker shall indicate that the vehicle is being operated by a junior operator. The commissioner of motor vehicles shall adopt a rule under the provisions of 3 V.S.A. chapter 25 to implement the provisions of this subsection.
Sec. 2. 23 V.S.A. § 608(a) is amended to read:
(a) The four‑year fee
required to be paid the commissioner for licensing an operator of motor
vehicles shall be $40.00. The two‑year fee required to be paid the
commissioner for licensing an operator shall be $25.00, and the two‑year
