Subject:  Taxation; sales and use tax; withdrawal from Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement

Statement of purpose:  This bill proposes to withdraw Vermont from the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement, which was initially authorized in sections 5 and 6 of Act 144 of 2002, and formally adopted in Act 68 of 2003, and by which the House intended to reduce the sales and use tax rate by at least one-half of one percent by July 1, 2007, as set forth in section 25a of H. 480 of 2003 as passed by the House; and to repeal the streamlined sales and use tax amendments to Vermont’s sales and use tax laws.

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
