Subject: Executive branch; state forms; multiracial categories
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require state agencies which provide a form for use by the public that requires a person to enter his or her race to allow the person to indicate multiple races if appropriate or to indicate that the person is multiracial.
AN ACT RELATING TO STATE FORMS AND RACIAL IDENTITY
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 3 V.S.A. chapter 69 is added to read:
Chapter 69. State Forms
§ 4050. IDENTIFICATION OF MULTIRACIAL IDENTITY
A state agency which provides a form for use by the public that requires a person to enter his or her race shall allow the person to indicate multiple races or that the person is multiracial, as appropriate.
