Subject: Motor vehicles; operator’s license; suspension procedure
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require that verification of a person’s identity prior to the suspension of his or her motor vehicle operator’s license be premised on all four of the following identification criteria: name, date of birth, home address, and Social Security number.
AN ACT RELATING TO VERIFICATION OF PERSONAL IDENTITY PRIOR TO THE SUSPENSION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR’S LICENSE
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 23 V.S.A. § 671(h) is added to read:
(h) Any suspension of a license that requires verification of the identity of the operator shall be based on all four of the following identification criteria: name, date of birth, home address, and Social Security number.
