Subject: Motor vehicles; cellular telephones; learner permit; junior operator license
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to prohibit the use of cellular telephones by a person operating a motor vehicle with a learner permit or junior operator license.
AN ACT RELATING TO PROHIBITING CELLULAR TELEPHONE USE BY A PERSON WITH A LEARNER PERMIT OR JUNIOR OPERATOR LICENSE
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 23 V.S.A. § 1095a is added to read:
§ 1095a. CELLULAR TELEPHONE USE; OPERATION BY A PERSON WITH A LEARNER PERMIT OR JUNIOR OPERATOR LICENSE
A person operating a motor vehicle with a learner permit under the provisions of section 617 of this title or with a junior operator license under the provisions of section 607 of this title shall not use a cellular telephone with the vehicle in motion on a highway.
