Subject: Education; independent schools; participation in public school cocurricular activities
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require a school district board to allow a resident who is a student in an independent school to participate in cocurricular activities.
AN ACT RELATING TO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN PUBLIC SCHOOL COCURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 16 V.S.A. § 563(32) is added to read:
(32) Shall allow a resident student who is enrolled in an approved or recognized independent school to participate in cocurricular activities, including sports, on the same basis as a student enrolled in the school district.
