Subject: Education; textbooks; home study students
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to require a school district to provide textbooks to home study students.
AN ACT RELATING TO REQUIRING A SCHOOL DISTRICT TO LEND TEXTBOOKS TO HOME STUDY STUDENTS
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. 16 V.S.A. § 563(14) is added to read:
(14) Shall provide, at the expense of the district, subject to the approval of the superintendent, all text books, learning materials, equipment, and supplies. A school board shall lend a copy of any textbook available to an enrolled student to a resident student enrolled in the same grade level in a home study program unless all copies are needed for students enrolled in the program run by the school district.
