Subject: Appropriations; general fund; Vermont Arts Council
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to increase the general fund appropriation to the Vermont Arts Council by $180,000.00 above the legislature’s historic appropriation of approximately $530,000.00, to equal a total of $710,000.00.
AN ACT RELATING TO THE GENERAL FUND APPROPRIATION TO THE VERMONT ARTS COUNCIL
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. VERMONT ARTS COUNCIL
In order to support the significant economic, cultural, and recreational benefits that flow from a vibrant creative economy, the sum of $710,000.00 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2008 to the Vermont Arts Council, of which amount the sum of $150,000.00 shall be used to support the creation of the creative economy competitive grant program, and the sum of $30,000.00 shall be used to assist with increased operating expenses and reduced federal funding.
