Whereas, since 1983, the Trust for Wildlife has contributed to the ecological enhancement of the southwestern Vermont landscape, to related educational efforts, and to international environmental projects in the former Soviet Union and Latin America, and

Whereas, the organization owns wildlife sanctuaries in Arlington and Halifax, and

Whereas, the Trust for Wildlife is assisting in the development of an integrated environmental education curriculum at Mount Anthony Union Middle School that is directly tied to the school’s campus, and

Whereas, other Vermont-centered educational projects include the “Nature Notes” radio show that students participate in developing, summer nature programs for youngsters, and an individual mentoring program for students interested in careers in wildlife biology and ecosystem protection, and

Whereas, in the former Soviet Union, the Trust for Wildlife has created an environmental studies curriculum and produced films that highlight Russians and Americans working collaboratively to improve the environment, and

Whereas, in a new international program, Vermont middle school students are working with their compatriots in Ecuador to learn more about a shared resource—neotropical migrant birds, and

Whereas, the Trust for Wildlife has donated a pure water system to an inner city camp outside Cuenca, Ecuador, as an environmental initiative designed to connect the protection of wildlife and ecosystems to human welfare, and

Whereas, the Trust for Wildlife has now been protecting wildlife and ecosystems through land protection and varied educational activities for a quarter of a century, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the Trust for Wildlife on its 25th anniversary, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Trust for Wildlife in Bennington.
