NO. R-406. HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE 2007 STOWE HIGH SCHOOL RAIDERS DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD HOCKEY TEAM.

Whereas, the Stowe High School field hockey teams are legendary in the annals of Vermont’s interscholastic sports competition, and
Whereas, in 2007, the top-seeded Raiders entered the Division III playoff competition undefeated, having allowed only six goals during the regular season, and
Whereas, the thoroughly prepared and confident Raiders demonstrated they merited the first-seed ranking as they shut out both their first- and
second-round opponents, and
Whereas, in the championship game, Stowe proved the far superior team, easily defeating Bellows Falls Union High School 3–0, clinching the 2007 Division III title, and concluding the year with an unblemished record of 17–0, and
Whereas, the 2007 field hockey championship, the Raiders’ 15th during coach Bev Osterberg’s 39 years as the team’s leader and mentor, represents a unique record of athletic achievement, and
Whereas, all the Stowe students associated with the varsity and junior varsity field hockey program in 2007, including Kristin Chambers, Katherine Clark, Jessica Ditoro, Katrina Horton, Alana Izzo, Kathleen Landwehrle, Elizabeth Libby, Helen Mask, Ruth McGovern, Sidney Purnell, Taylor Wolfgang, Heather Bradford, Molly Hayden, Millie Heckler, Maeve McGovern, Rafferty Parke, Chelsea Thompson, Victoria Blaine, Jessica Condon, Charlotte Haab, Emma Howell, Aleksandra Karosas, Michaela Meehan, Adele Priestley, Samantha Purnell, Rebecca Condon, Olivia Derienzo, Evelyn Reed, Kim Vigneau, Nisha Walls, Sarah Winokur, and Amanda Wood, were outstanding representatives of their school, and
Whereas, the support and advice of assistant coach Janet Godin was always invaluable, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the 2007 Stowe High School Raiders Division III championship field hockey team, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Bev Osterberg at Stowe High School.
