NO. R-394. HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF LARRY SOLSAA OF SOUTH STRAFFORD.

Whereas, Larry Solsaa grew up in South Dakota and served in the U.S. Navy, and
Whereas, in 1981, he relocated from Connecticut where he was then residing with his family to South Strafford and became a popular carpenter in the Upper Valley, and
Whereas, Larry Solsaa befriended many individuals when he repaired their homes and barns, and he employed innovative methods to meet the unusual construction challenges that different renovation projects presented in the course of his work, and
Whereas, through his work, Larry Solsaa developed a deep respect for and fascination with historic homes, art, and museums, and
Whereas, Larry Solsaa loved to sail on local lakes and ponds, and he even attempted to fulfill his fantasy of walking on water, which he attempted, in a fashion, with various Styrofoam shoes that he created personally, and
Whereas, the relationship of divorced fathers to their children was a personal priority for him, and he was strongly committed to securing these fathers equal parental custodial rights, and
Whereas, he devoted considerable time and energy to this, and until the end of his life, Larry Solsaa campaigned vigorously to achieve this public policy objective, and
Whereas, the news of his death at the early age of 59 was received with great sadness in South Strafford, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the general assembly expresses its condolences to Larry Solsaa’s wife June, his sons Jeffrey and Eric, his six grandchildren, his parents, and his many friends in the Upper Valley, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to June Solsaa in South Strafford and to his sons Jeffrey and Eric Solsaa.
