NO. R-305.  Senate concurrent resolution honoring Moretown Town Clerk-Treasurer and Trustee of Public Money Susan Goodyear for her public service.


   By Senators Doyle, Cummings and Scott,

     By Representatives Grad of Moretown and Donahue of Northfield,

Whereas, the town of Moretown, chartered in 1763, is located at the northern gateway to the Mad River Valley and is a community that extols civic pride, and

Whereas, the citizens of Moretown are proud of their municipal government and the integrity of their elected officials, and

Whereas, for the last dozen years, Susan Goodyear has exercised prudent judgment and outstanding managerial skills in her role as the Moretown clerk‑treasurer and trustee of public money, and

Whereas, in small Vermont municipalities, such as Moretown, the clerk‑treasurer’s duties are not unlike those of a town administrator or manager in a larger community, and

Whereas, Susan Goodyear has been a reliable custodian of the town’s monies and has administered the town’s elections fairly and honestly, and

Whereas, local residents know that they will be treated with respect when they enter her office, and

Whereas, on Tuesday, March 4, the town of Moretown will elect a new town clerk as Susan Goodyear will be stepping down from her post with the warm thanks of her constituents for a job well done, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly honors Moretown Town Clerk-Treasurer and Trustee of Public Money Susan Goodyear for a dozen years of outstanding public service on behalf of her community, and be it further

Resolved:  That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Susan Goodyear in Moretown.
