NO. R-285.  House concurrent resolution congratulating Cub Scout Pack 401 of Bellows Falls on being designated the 2007 Vermont Pack of the Year.

Whereas, Cub Scouts, a long-standing service of the Boy Scouts of America (B.S.A.), provides elementary-age schoolboys with wonderful opportunities to learn skills that will last them a lifetime and to engage in exciting and enjoyable activities, and

Whereas, local organizations sponsor Cub Scout packs in their respective communities, enabling young boys throughout Vermont to participate in the programs that scouting offers, and

Whereas, in Bellows Falls, the Moose Family Center sponsors Cub Scout Pack 401, and

Whereas, Pack 401 has striven to excel in all aspects of its program and administrative endeavors, and

Whereas, the excellence of Pack 401’s operations was recognized when it was honored as the Pack of the Year in the state of Vermont, and

Whereas, the Green Mountain Council (B.S.A.) selected Pack 401 based on the pack meeting specified criteria, including having council-trained local leadership, sending boys to summer camp and offering other summertime activities for the youngsters, the success of its fundraising, and the size of its membership growth, and

Whereas, among the Pack 401 activities that Cub Scouts participate in are cub car racing, rocket building and launching, the pinewood derby race, Green Up Day, parades, camping, picnics, and a variety of other events, and

Whereas, the members and leaders of Pack 401 deserve special recognition for their dedication to cub scouting, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Cub Scout Pack 401 of Bellows Falls on being designated the 2007 Vermont Pack of the Year, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Cubmaster Eric Chapin in Bellows Falls.
