Whereas, since 1977, Janet Leonard’s steady presence has been central to the operations of the legislative council and the administration of the general assembly’s finances, and
Whereas, for three decades, legislators have been able to turn to her for assistance in solving innumerable challenges, ranging from the transmission of a fax to arranging for travel to an out-of-state meeting, and
Whereas, Janet Leonard has mastered the intricacies of multiple state payment systems, helping to assure that the legislature’s financial reputation with various vendors remains in good order, and
Whereas, for thousands of Vermonters, Janet Leonard’s voice was the first they encountered when they called seeking information or contacting their representative or senator, and
Whereas, the staff of the legislative council has relied on her daily presence in their midst, and she is known for her diligent and conscientious work habits, and
Whereas, on July 31, 2007, Janet Leonard will be concluding her tenure on the legislative council staff, and
Whereas, she is looking forward to retiring to the warmth of Arizona where she will be relocating in the coming months, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly is pleased to honor Janet Leonard for her 30 years of dedicated service to the Vermont General Assembly and expresses a fond farewell and best wishes for a wonderful retirement, and be it further
Resolved: That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Janet Leonard.
