NO. R-100.  House concurrent resolution congratulating Alexandra Larrow of Vergennes on her designation as Vermont’s Junior Miss 2007.

Whereas, the Junior Miss program’s goal is “to honor young women who excel and encourage them to obtain a college education and assume roles of leadership in their communities,” and

Whereas, the individual junior miss contestant in both the state and national competition is evaluated based on an interview, plus scores in the fitness, self‑expression, and talent categories, and an assessment of scholastic record, and

Whereas, at the state finals in Chester on January 30, Alexandra Larrow of Vergennes was selected as Vermont‘s Junior Miss 2007, the 50th young Vermont woman honored as a Vermont Junior Miss title winner, and

Whereas, she was also the recipient of top honors for fitness, talent, self‑expression, and the candidate interview, and

Whereas, all of these outstanding achievements prompted the judges to designate her as the winner of the Spirit of Junior Miss Award at the Chester event, and

Whereas, these multiple accomplishments resulted in Alexandra Larrow being awarded $950.00 in cash scholarships, $21,000.00 in scholarships to Green Mountain College, and the right to compete in the National Junior Miss competition this summer in Mobile, Alabama, and

Whereas, Alexandra Larrow is an extraordinarily talented young woman who has learned to manage her time efficiently, devoted special effort to her academic studies, and still have time for an amazing array of extracurricular activities in which she has achieved much success, and

Whereas, academically, she is a National Honor Society member, is ranked third in the 2007 senior class of 110 students at Vergennes Union High School, and has won special citations in Spanish language studies and music, and

Whereas, athletically, Alexandra Larrow is a member of the outdoor track and field team and the varsity cheerleading squad, and

Whereas, she is the winner of numerous academic, oratorical, and youth leadership awards, and she has worked or interned for several media organizations in Addison County, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly honors Alexandra Larrow of Vergennes on her designation as Vermont’s Junior Miss 2007 and wishes her every success both in the national competition and in her college studies, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Alexandra Larrow in Vergennes.
