Whereas, the originally scheduled 2006 girls’ state championship cross‑country meet was rescheduled after gusty winds caused a postponement, and

Whereas, all of the competitors, consequently, were more than prepared to compete in this season finale to their fall running season, and

Whereas, in the Division II results, the U-32 team’s combined effort proved the best as the Raiders captured the championship crown topping their nearest rival, Rice Memorial High School, 44-49, and

Whereas, among the Raiders team members, three girls were among the ten fastest runners including senior Katrina Loignon, who was the third person to finish the five-kilometer course; sophomore Ami Curtis, who was the fifth runner to cross the final line; and Chantelle Fisher-McKone, who was the eighth competitor to come to the run’s conclusion, and

Whereas, this strong team that sped its way across the cross-country terrain to the 2006 Division II title also included superb teammates Ashley Fitch, Caitlin Fuller, Courtney Phillips, and Sara Phillips, and

Whereas, coaches Kathy Topping and Mark Chaplin deserve credit for their development of an outstanding training regime that served their students well when it mattered most, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the 2006 U-32 Raiders Division II girls’ championship cross-country team, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Kathy Topping and Mark Chaplin at U-32 High School.
