ACT NO. 198
Breach of the peace; assault with bodily fluids
This act makes it a crime for any person to intentionally cause blood, vomitus, excrement, mucus, saliva, semen, or urine to come into contact with a law enforcement officer while the officer is performing a lawful duty. A violation of the act is punishable by up to one year in prison and a $1,000.00 fine, or both. The act also amends the assault statute to create a separate offense for assaulting emergency room personnel.
Effective Date: July 1, 2008.
