ACT NO. 170
Operation of vehicles; definitions
This act amends the definition of drug in the motor vehicle statutes to include any substance or combination of substances, other than alcohol, which affects the nervous system, brain, or muscles of a person so as to impair, noticeably and appreciably, a persons ability to drive a vehicle safely. The act also directs the department of public safety, the department of corrections, and the department of motor vehicles to collaborate in developing and implementing procedures to allow law enforcement officers roadside access to department of correction records and directs the Vermont sentencing commission to study the feasibility of implementing alcohol ignition interlocks for persons with multiple DUI convictions.
Effective Date: July 1, 2008.
