ACT NO. 160
Health insurance; mammograms
This act directs health insurers to cover the full cost of mammograms without imposing deductible or coinsurance requirements. It allows insurers to impose a co-payment requirement up to the same amount they charge for care or services by an insureds primary care physician, not to exceed $25.00. The act also reduces from 50 years to 40 years the age at which insurers must provide coverage for an insureds annual mammogram.
Effective Date: October 1, 2008 and applicable to health insurance plans on and after that date as the insurer offers, issues, or renews the plan, but not later than October 1, 2009.
