ACT NO. 24
Local foods; grants; farm-to-school program; Rozo McLaughlin
This act establishes a grant program, named in honor of former Representative Rozo McLaughlin, to encourage Vermont schools to develop a relationship with local farmers and producers. The act also directs the secretary of agriculture, food and markets to help develop and implement educational programs for farmers designed to increase sales to schools. Finally, the act directs the commissioner of education to expand regional training for school and child care personnel concerning strategies relating to purchasing, processing, and serving locally grown foods.
