ACT NO. 9
Mental health; Vermont state hospital; consultants
This act authorizes the committee on committees of the senate and the speaker of the house to retain one or more consultants to study the provision of inpatient psychiatric services at the existing Vermont state hospital; to review the work that has been done to date on the Futures Plan; to assess the various options for providing inpatient psychiatric services at one or more regional or satellite facilities in conjunction with general hospitals, in stand-alone facilities, or both; and to analyze the impact that the population involved in the criminal justice system has on inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Up to $100,000.00 of the $1,000,000.00 appropriated to department of buildings and general services in 2006 for planning costs related to the Futures Plan is available to cover consultant fees. The consultant(s) shall prepare a preliminary progress report by September 1, 2007 and a final report by November 1, 2007.
