House concurrent resolution congratulating Andrea Grimm on being named the 2005 national social worker of the year

Offered by:  Representatives Pugh of South Burlington, Clark of Vergennes, Fisher of Lincoln, Maier of Middlebury, Nitka of Ludlow and Nuovo of Middlebury

Whereas, the Vermont agency of human services designates annually an outstanding social worker employed at the agency of human services as the social worker of the year, and

Whereas, there are many outstanding social workers who would be worthy candidates for this honor, and

Whereas, after careful consideration of this year’s potential recipients of this honor, Andrea Grimm, a social worker employed at the Middlebury office of the department for children and families, was chosen, and

Whereas, when judged in comparison with the other state social worker award winners from across the country, she was honored with the prestigious national social worker of the year award, and

Whereas, Andrea Grimm is a Middlebury native who graduated from that community’s high school, and

Whereas, she earned a degree in social work from the University of Vermont and she has been on the staff of the department of social and rehabilitation services and its successor, the department for children and families, since 1998, and

Whereas, Andrea Grimm is an outstanding social worker whose professional work serves as a model for her colleagues, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Andrea Grimm on being named the national social worker of the year, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Andrea Grimm at the Middlebury office of the department for children and families.
