Joint Concurrent House Resolution

H.C.R.  97

House concurrent resolution congratulating state wrestling champion Robert Hamlin

Offered by:  Representatives Barnard of Richmond, Frank of Underhill, Symington of Jericho, Minter of Waterbury and Dostis of Waterbury

Whereas, Robert Hamlin, a freshman at Mount Mansfield Union High School, is a young man with many interests ranging from reading the works of J.R.R. Tolkien to studying mathematics, and

Whereas, one of his special talents is wrestling at which he is highly successful in the 145‑pound class, and

Whereas, during the 2004-2005 high school wrestling season, Robert Hamlin was named the outstanding wrestler in four of six tournaments, including the Jason Lowell Memorial Tournament which features ten teams, and

Whereas, throughout the season, he compiled an undefeated record in Vermont, and

Whereas, on February 11, 2005, the Burlington Free Press designated Robert Hamlin as an athlete of the week, in recognition of his wrestling accomplishments, and

Whereas, Robert Hamlin’s first season as a high school wrestler concluded with his capturing the ultimate prize as he emerged victorious in his weight class at the state wrestling championship held on February 25 and 26 at St. Johnsbury Academy, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Robert Hamlin of Mount Mansfield Union High School on his outstanding freshman year as a high school wrestler and for winning the 2005 state championship in the 145‑pound class, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Robert Hamlin at Mount Mansfield Union High School.
