Joint Concurrent House Resolution


H.C.R.  47

House concurrent resolution congratulating Ashley Sweeney on her designation as the 2004 Miss Vermont National Teenager

Offered by:  Representatives Clark of Vergennes and Smith of New Haven

Whereas, Ashley Sweeney, a senior and four-year honor roll student at Mt. Abraham Union High School (MAUHS), has compiled an impressive record of academic achievements and community service, and

Whereas, during her freshman and sophomore years at MAUHS, she volunteered over 600 hours of community service hours assisting a number of worthy organizations, as a junior she doubled the number of her volunteer hours, and she anticipates 1,000 more community service hours during her senior year, and

Whereas, Ashley has been active in the Big Brother Big Sister Program for the last two years, and

Whereas, she has been a member of the MAUHS Division II field hockey championship team for both the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 academic years, and

Whereas, Ashley has received school awards honoring her academic accomplishments, and

Whereas, she has been a finalist in oratorical competitions that veterans’ organizations have sponsored, and

Whereas, based on her many accomplishments and boundless competitive spirit, Ashley won the 2004-2005 Miss Vermont National Teenage title, and

Whereas, this special honor was well deserved and enabled her to participate in national competition activities, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Ashley Sweeney of New Haven on her designation as the 2004 Miss Vermont National Teenager, and be it further

Resolved:  That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Ashley Sweeney in New Haven and to Mt. Abraham Union High School.
