H.C.R.  46

House concurrent resolution congratulating Samantha Connor on her designation as the 2004 Vermont National Junior Teenager

Offered by:  Representatives Smith of New Haven and Clark of Vergennes

Whereas, Samantha Connor is an honor roll sophomore at Middlebury Union High School (MUHS) who has maintained a 3.7 grade point average, and

Whereas, she has volunteered 1,500 hours of community service, including the delivery of a personal motivational presentation entitled “What it means to be an American Sign Language interpreter for songs in churches,” and

Whereas, Samantha has outstanding writing skills and is a Federated Garden Clubs of New York State poetry contest winner, and

Whereas, she is president of her class, a member of the MUHS Full Senate, and an editor of her school newspaper, and

Whereas, Samantha was selected as the MUHS student representative to both the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference and the People to People Leadership Summit, and

Whereas, she is a winner of the Triple C Award (for outstanding commitment, strong character and exceptional courage), the school service award, and the citizenship award, and

Whereas, she was honored as the 2004 Miss Vermont National Junior Teenager, a distinct honor which enabled her to meet and compete with outstanding young high school students from across the country, now therefore be it

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates Samantha Connor on her designation as the 2004 Vermont National Junior Teenager, and be it further

Resolved:  That the secretary of state be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Samantha Connor in Bridport.
