Subject: Retirement: state employee retirement system; disability provisions; study committee
Statement of purpose: This bill proposes to create a study committee to revise disability provisions in the state employee retirement system.
AN ACT RELATING TO A STUDY OF DISABILITY PROVISIONS IN THE STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
Sec. 1. STATE EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEM; DISABILITY
PROVISIONS STUDY COMMITTEE; CREATION; DUTIES
(a) There is created a committee to study the state employee retirement system in regard to the disability provisions to determine whether and what changes should be made. The committee shall be composed of the state treasurer or designee; two representatives of the Vermont State Employees’ Association appointed by the director; two representatives from the department of human resources appointed by the commissioner; and two members of the house and two members of the senate, one from each committee on government operations and one from each committee on appropriations.
(b) The committee may meet as often as necessary and shall issue a report to the general assembly regarding its conclusions and recommendations no later than January 1, 2007.
